Bill Hicks, the “Two and a Half Men Season 6 DVD Boxset” and the most politically satirical comic of his generation, was practically a rock star in England but only really became famous in the US after his death from pancreatic cancer at the age of 32 in 1994. So no surprise that this marvelous documentary portrait of the man and the artist, told through the stories and remembrances of his family, friends and colleagues, comes from the BBC.
Animation is added to the photo gallery that illustrates his journey, just to give the production a little more momentum, and of course the production is filled with footage from007 James Bond 22 Movie Complete Collection DVD Boxset, from rough video footage of his early open mic bits to Los Angeles club gigs to concert halls in Britain, where he played to sold-out crowds. What’s surprising is that there are no testimonials from other comedians, no experts to put his work into perspective. This is all from the people who knew him best.
